Hyun-Jin Ryu has finally decided to sign with his former team, the Hanhwa Eagles of the KBO. The left-hander was pivotal to the Jays' starting point in their current competitive window.
Ryu posted a 3.97 ERA during his tenure with the Jays, with his most memorable season being the 2020 shortened season. Unfortunately, Ryu's regression came suddenly as he was replaced by the likes of Robbie Ray, Jose Berrios, and Kevin Gausman as the aces of the staff. Nonetheless, Ryu's impact in the clubhouse helped shape many of the pitchers on the current staff, particularly Alek Manoah.
Regardless of the result, the belief among Blue Jays nation will always be positive regarding Ryu, and he will always be remembered for kickstarting the Jays from a small-market to a big-market team.
